WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

Fatimah

Dear ROTA:

I am writing this letter in appreciation for the generosity and kindness you had extended to our displaced students. We thank you for the invaluable aid you offered to ease our suffering after we were forced to move out of our camp with nothing but the clothes on our bodies. With this schoolbag, you gave us back the hope of continuing our education.

We wish this foundation all the best for reaching out with kindness and love to the displaced students of Nahr Al-Bared refugee camp.

Love, Fatima.

Interview with a student that received a school kit from ROTA:

1)     Introduce yourself?

My name is Fatima Mahmoud Al-Ahmad, from Nahr al-Bared refugee camp. I am 15 years old, in ninth grade. We moved to Al-Badawi refugee camp since 20 days. When I grow up I want to become a pediatrician and treat children for free. I see a lot of Palestinian children falling ill because of the unhealthy environments they live in.

2)     Have you heard any news about your house?

No, but I heard that the neighborhood that we used to live in is now completely destroyed. I don't know how I will buy new things and new clothes instead of those that got destroyed. My father is ill, and my mother works day and night in a field to support us.

3)     What are your dreams?

I dream to live in a real house, like the ones I see on TV. I sometimes wonder what it's like to live in a beautiful home with rooms, windows and doors. A home that provides me with everything I need.

4)     What would you like to say to ROTA?

We were really in need of this kind of help. We needed schoolbags and stationary. They (ROTA) gave us hope and encouraged us to study and succeed despite the difficult conditions we are going through. Thank you ROTA.

Alaa

Dear ROTA:

First of all I would like to send my regards to all those who contributed in putting a smile back on the faces of the displaced students of Nahr Al-Bared refugee camp. Thank you for helping them continue their studies. We wish you all the best and success in your noble mission. I would like, on behalf of my fellow students, to deeply thank you. We pledge to do our best to continue with our studies despite all the current suffering and difficult conditions.

Interview with a student that received a school kit from ROTA:

1)     Introduce yourself?

My name is Alaa Jamal Husain from Nahr Al-Bared refugee camp. I am 15 years old, in ninth grade. I love reading poetry and novels and I dream of becoming an Arabic Language teacher. I was forced to move out with my family from the refugee camp since a week now.

2)     Why did it take you long to move out of Nahr Al-Bared refugee camp?

We thought that matters will be resolved quickly, and we didn't want to be homeless. We were born refugees, and we didn't want to become refugees twice. The disastrous situation in the camp, the lack of food and water and the continuous bombing forced us to move out. It's been a week so far.

3)     What saddened you the most?

It hurts whenever I think of my house that was completely destroyed. I miss my old schoolbag, my books, my drawings and my diary book where I used to write down all my dreams and ambitions.

4)     What would you like to say to ROTA?

Thank you ROTA for thinking about us when nobody did. I was in despair thinking of how I will prepare for my exams when we didn't have any schoolbags and stationary. But ROTA was here to help us. It provided us with the prettiest schoolbags I've ever had in my life. I felt that there really was somebody that cared for us in this world and that we were not alone in this world. Thank you ROTA from the bottom of my heart.
