HOW WE HELP

Connect ROTAsia Program

The Connect ROTAsia program will link schools and universities currently operating in Qatar with similar educational institutions in developing Asian countries, with the purpose of sharing information, knowledge and educational resources.

The program has two components:

1.      Connectivity Grant - facilitating solutions

Connect ROTAsia partners (Qatar based universities and organizations) will propose solutions to improve access to knowledge and education in both Qatar and developing Asian countries.

Funding will be provided by ROTA for innovative projects and the resulting experiences and conclusions of these projects will be shared online via the Knowledge Network site.

The grant is open to Connect ROTAsia partners and will fund projects in the areas of:

·       Information and communications-based technology (ICT) solutions to enable schools and universities to connect to each other.

·       Academic fellowships, student exchanges, joint research projects, training, symposiums, workshops, seminars, visiting scholars and guest speakers.

2.      Knowledge Network & School Twinning - facilitating access

The Knowledge Network, an online portal, allows teachers and students to work in partnership, communicate and exchange ideas and resources.

Some features of the Knowledge Network portal include:

·       Online access to subject experts, provided by Qatar-based universities

·       Educational resource banks

·       Student-led projects and initiatives

·       Competitions and school project grants

·       Interactive discussion tools for students and teachers including forums, blogs and VoIP systems

The Knowledge Network will also facilitate School Twinning; establishing and encouraging unity between the schools of Qatar and developing Asian countries.
